Studio Policy 2026
To ensure we can maintain the same standard of service for all of our students and parents, the
following policies apply.
Contact
Please understand that Flute with Alyssa is a small business, unless urgent I will replay to your
messages and emails between 8am - 7pm Mon - Fri. Weekend messages will be responded to if
required.
Lesson Delivery
Lessons are delivered both face-to-face or online via zoom. For online lessons, students are
expected to have a device with a camera and microphone that can connect to the internet as
well as an instrument to practice with at home for. Headphones are preferred but not required.
Code of Conduct
It is expected that students/parents show respect by:
-
Attending lessons on time
-
Doing their best to practice any work assigned to them during the week, and being prepared for each lesson by having their music, books etc ready
-
Using appropriate language and attitude
It is expected that I show respect by:
-
Teaching each lesson on time for the full duration
-
Providing students with lesson notes and resources each week for students practice
-
Using appropriate language
Video/Media Consent
Lessons may be recorded for the purpose of sending students a recap of their lesson to help
them practice at home. Videos recorded by me from online lessons will be stored only on a
secure cloud storage for one term and then deleted. Videos will only be shared with the student
and parent.
Any photos or videos from previous Flute with Alyssa events, or those shared by parents and
students on social media, may be posted on my Facebook, Instagram or Youtube accounts.
You may opt out of either of these if you do not wish for you/your child to be videod in lessons
or for their images or videos to be shared on social media by not filling out the consent form.
Pricing
Lessons will continue to be billed at the rate stated in the student handbook. Lessons will
operate through NSW school terms. Holiday and Public Holiday lessons will be available per
request. There is a $5 fee per lesson if I travel to you. See student handbook for full list of prices.
Payments
All payments must be paid by the Friday of each week either by bank transfer or cash. A
reminder text will be sent on the Saturday. NO TERM FEES. You may wish to pay for multiple
weeks at a time or the whole term if preferred.
Cancellations & Make Up Lessons
Students who are unable to attend a face to face lesson at their regular time each week will
always have the option to attend their lesson online instead via zoom.
When you book an ongoing lesson time, I set aside this time each week for you. Because music
teachers rely on the same students each week, we can't simply fill in gaps in our calendars with
one off or 'walk in' students if you are unable to make your regular lesson time. Make up lessons
will be available for all students.
As a courtesy, if you know you will be unavailable for you lesson, please let me know via email or
text 12 hours prior to your scheduled lesson. If you cancel lessons within the 12 hours there is
an expectation that you pay half the amount (e.g. $15 for 25 min lesson) for that lesson.
Teacher Cancellations
If I am unable to teach your regular lesson (due to illness etc.), I will reschedule your lesson and
try to provide you with the same amount of courtesy I expect from you. You are NOT expected
to pay for these lessons.
As an expanding small business it is important that I introduce and document these policies. I
love teaching my students and am very proud of the community I am building. I want to thank
the students and parents who have been extremely supportive of me and understanding of
these procedures and policies. You are supporting a small business and the Newcastle music
industry. It is a goal of mine to make the Newcastle music scene more friendly and available to all
ages. With your support we are empowering all ages to be creative and put a foot in the door to
the music world.
Thank you for your understanding,
Alyssa Ayling
